The Clay

The result of glacial cover over 15,000 years ago, that lovely stuff known as Maine "blue" clay lies just beneath the topsoil in our own backyard. Laced with iron, it fires to a beautiful, deep red color and has a distinctive ring to it. We dig all of our clay straight out of our own backyard, digging 20-40 tons at a time every 10-12 years. We the bag it and process it ourselves. Scroll down for photos from our most recent dig.
